PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences - Pharmaceutics

The department has efficient faculty members and research laboratory equipped with advanced instruments concentrating in Formulation Development. Research in Pharmaceutics focuses on areas related to Drug Delivery and it emphasizes the advances in the formulation, drug targeting and multi-model therapy. Formulation research includes drug therapy, cosmeceuticals, nutritional biomaterials and nano-pharmacy. Core research focuses on pre-formulation, biocompatibility, computer-aided drug delivery and pharmacokinetic studies.

Duration : Full-time course is for a minimum period of three years and for a part-time course is for a minimum period of five years

Eligibility : Candidates with M.Pharm degree awarded by a College/University recognized by AICTE/PCI/RGUHS or a P.G. Degree in Pharmacy considered as equivalent by RGUHS, are eligible for enrollment for the PhD course in Pharmacy.

  • PEO1: Judge pertinent research problems, and execute a research plan, to generate and analyze result data
  • PEO2: Develop and evaluate new and advanced technical skills to resolve problems related to respective specialized area
  • PEO3: Apply ethical codes of professional and research conducts conferring to specialized professions
  • PEO4: Conduct themselves as responsible professionals demonstrating life-long learning and communication with multidisciplinary teams using modern technology

  • P0 1: Conclude relevant scientific literature to identify new approaches in research
  • P0 2: Invent and execute independent, original research in an area of pharmaceutical sciences
  • P0 3: Validate experimental results of research in pharmaceutical sciences
  • P0 4: Identify problems in their research, provide a strategy to analyze and solve the problems
  • P0 5: Develop presentation skills to communicate the research findings effectively

  • 1. Candidates intending to register for the PhD Programme shall appear for the entrance test conducted by the RGUHS
  • 1.2. An entrance test shall be a qualifying test with qualifying marks as 50%. The test consists of two papers, conducted in two sessions duration of one and half hours each. The syllabus of the first paper consists of Basics of research methodology which carry 50 marks. The Second theory paper will be a specialization subject, preferably short notes with the competence of PG standard carry 50 marks. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the Centre(s) notified by the RGUHS
  • 1.3. An interview/viva-voce to be organized by the university for the candidates who successfully qualified the entrance exams only are selected for the Ph.D programme to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a Ph.D registration committee duly constituted by RGUHS
  • 1. 4. The interview/viva voce will also consider the following aspects, viz
    • i. Evaluate the research aptitude of the applicants
    • ii. Whether a candidate possesses the competence/ skills for the proposed research
    • iii. The research work can be suitably undertaken at the College
    • iv. The proposed area of research can contribute to existing/new/additional knowledge
  • 1.5. There will be only one stream of admission annually. The eligibility secured at the entrance is valid for admission as per the calendar of events and such marks are valid for two terms
  • 1.6. The university will notify well in advance through the university website www.rguhs.ac in regarding the criteria for the admission, procedure for the admission, details of entrance test centre and all other relevant information
